"I’ve been looking into the pros and cons of collars and harnesses, and here’s what I’ve found..."

🟢 Harness – Pros:

  • Ideal for dogs with respiratory issues or sensitive necks

  • Distributes pressure across the chest

  • Helpful for puppies or dogs in training

🔴 Harness – Cons:

  • Can actually encourage pulling in strong dogs

  • Some restrict natural shoulder movement

  • Less effective for controlling excitable or reactive dogs

🟢 Collar – Pros:

  • Simple, quick, and easy to use

  • Great for calm walkers

  • Allows more control in close situations

  • Best for attaching ID tags

🔴 Collar – Cons:

  • Can put strain on the neck if the dog pulls

  • Not suitable for dogs with throat or trachea issues

  • Less control over body movement than a harness

🦮 My harness recommendation:

"The best harness I’ve used is the Halti—you can clip the lead to both the front and the back, which helps you guide the dog towards you instead of them pulling away.

Also, if your dog tends to try slipping out of a harness, I highly recommend clipping the lead to both the harness and the collar for extra security."
